How to ruin a line-up shot…

So I was going through my files from our Morocco trip last year and had a good laugh when I found this one from a spot down south Denny took us to. It’s way off the map and unless you know someone who knows someone… chances are you’ve never heard of it, but thats beside the point… Nice West African line-up but Denny, come on bro, did you have to give your ass a good scratching just as a perfect set pulled through?? haha

Speed Bluuuuurs…

It had been a few years since i last experimented with underwater shots so on a trip earlier this year to the Maldives i decided to spend a few sessions with the goggles on, ducking under and shooting while the guys went passed. This session i mixed it up and decided to slow the shutter speed down from your usual 1/1000 sec to anything from 1/15th to 1/30th. In the end i’m really stoked with this one of Wesley O’Driscoll. It is actually the second shot in a sequence, the first shot running in a few mags overseas and this shot running on Surfline and in the latest issue of Zigzag. Anyways click here to check the rest of the images in this months Surfline F-Stop.

Go!

Cover of the latest issue of Go! Really stoked, my first working for them. Inside you will find the feature we did on the Pondoland Hike, what a great trip! October issue, check it out.

The winter that was…

A little slideshow we put together looking back on an insane winter around Southern Africa. Go check it out on the Zigzag site.

Surfline – Ponto Do Oura

Go check out the Surfline spot check on Ponto Do Oura by AVG and myself, narrated by Royden Bryson.

Chasing Swells…

We have been keeping a close eye on the charts the last month or two hoping to chase a swell to an undisclosed African destination. This screen shot isn’t really giving too much away as one swell follows the next, lighting up most of the West Coast of Africa but we pretty much on standby, hoping to book our flights in the next day…

Walking on the moon

Just stumbled upon one of my favourite lifestyle images being used on the Lizzard website. Completely a personal thing as it was being there that made the image memorable…

Lanzarote, one of the main islands that make up the Canaries is the most mind blowing place I have ever been to. For those of you old enough, you may remember a movie called Enemy Mine with Dennis Quaid, set on some distant planet in the future. It was filmed there back in the eighties, pretty cool if you know it. But the place itself really is something straight out of a movie. Black Volcanic lava fields and craters as far as you can see and running directly through it is this perfectly manicured road, completely surreal! So back to the image. Antonio Bortoletto, one who is never shy for a photo opp strutted his stuff and definitely ended with one of my favourite lifestyle images.

Namibia…

Chasing swells, last minute bookings, sand dunes, a generous oom, 4×4′s, wind, International Surfing Day, unbelievable waves, crazy long barrels, broken boards, thirsty Germans, Namibia…

Maldives

Back to back trips mean too much editing… my brain is fried but hey can I really complain? The Maldives was insane! The most beautiful, pristine place I have been fortunate enough to visit. Clear turquoise water, white sandy beaches, blue skies… the whole postcard thing. Add to that it’s offshore everyday and we scored waves, what more can I want!

So the last month has been a little crazy but just rapping up this edit and then off to the Mag to drop off disks. Will probably chat to one or two of the advertisers, definitely chat to Will Bednix and hopefully get the next mission on the go. In the mean time look out for our Mozambique and Maldives trips in the upcoming issue of Zigzag and will keep you posted on how the next adventure unfolds.

Big thanks to surfers, the boat crew and everyone involved in our Maldives trip. Awesome time, thanks guys!
